ATU 689 - Documentary
ATU Local 689 is a powerhouse local of the Amalgamated Transit Union that represents thousands of bus operators in the Washington, DC region. After a series of very successful contract wins in recent years, they literally wrote the book on how to beat management at their own game. They commissioned us to create a documentary to be used as a tool to help teach and inspire other organizers across the nation.

Assessed existing footage, scripted the project, and planned interviews to build the foundation of the story.
Production

Documented active organizing campaigns that mirrored the winning process, and filmed interviews crafted to fit an engaging story arc.
Results
The 42-minute documentary premiered at the ATU International Convention in front of hundreds of ATU leaders. It is now making the rounds at national film festivals and is being used by the local as a training tool for organizing.
